| ARKA BALLET TO APPEAR IN SERIES OF KENNEDY CENTER PROGRAMS |
| FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 22, 1999 Contact: Tania Chichmanian (301) 587-6225 Washington, DC ARKA Ballet has been invited to take part in a series of programs this fall at the Kennedy Center. The first is Music That Moves! in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, November 28. Then, on November 30, its Dance for Life in the Terrace Theater. Finally, December 8 through 15, its "Meet Mr. Beethoven!" in the Concert Hall. Music That Moves is a National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) Family Series concert featuring the music of Mozart, Copland, Borodin, Ellington, Debussy, and more. For this special concert, the NSO is joined on stage by dancers performing ballet, folk, modern, swing, ballroom and flamenco. Dance for Life is a gala evening of dance which will benefit the Whitman Walker Clinic in Washington, DC. The evening features performances by ARKA Ballet, Bowen McCauley Dance, Maryland Youth Ballet, Tony Powell/Music and Movement, and The Washington Ballet. In December, ARKA Ballet will be featured as part of Meet Mr. Beethoven, a National Symphony Orchestra Young Peoples Concert. This educational concert highlights excerpts of Beethovens greatest symphonies along with a minuet by Haydn and is geared to students grades 3 to 6. All the programs highlight original choreography by area choreographers, including ARKA Ballets Artistic Director, Roudolf Kharatian.
